Holographic Light Display at Sunport Takamatsu

If you’re in or near Takamatsu before August 8th, here is a small event that is not to be missed.

Every night, after sunset in Takamatsu Sunport you can see a free holographic light display that is pretty amazing.

Honestly, I’m not sure how “holographic” it really is, while the images are indeed CGI, I’m under the impression that the show is still two-dimensional, but honestly, it doesn’t matter. The thing is that the screen on which is projected the display is a large wall made of water projected from the sea into the air. And the result is quite stunning.

Here are a couple of videos to give you an idea of what to expect (keeping in mind that the real thing is much more beautiful).

The first piece is a recreation of possibly the most famous episode of the Battle of Yashima, namely Nasu no Yoichi piercing the Taira fan.

The second piece is more abstract, but stunning nonetheless.

So if you’re in or near Takamatsu until the end of next week and are looking for something interesting to do on these hot summer evenings, there you have one!
