The Setouchi Triennale 2022 starts in two weeks! And yet, very little is public or even semi-public at the moment. If you’re a long-time reader, you know that I usually get a lot of information beforehand from my acquaintances and friends either working for the Triennale or living on the islands. I haven’t heard from the former in a while, and the latter have been asking me for information and not the other way around for the most part. It’s a strange year and I’m assuming that many things are being decided, changed and managed at the last minute. Hopefully, things will get clearer very soon.
Yet, things have been happening on the islands. As you may know, I spent two days on Ogijima this week(end), and some artists have been at work.
I already showed you Team Ogi renovating its installation. Also, Takeshi Kawashima came to preview his new installation in his Dream Friends Gallery, but I missed him.

And these days, Rikuji Makabe is also on Ogijima to install his new art, which is as you can see very reminiscent, but also somewhat different from Wallalley and Kanrin House.

I hope I’ll get to see a few more artworks being installed before the Triennale starts, we’ll see.
Next week, I’ll try to go to Naoshima, as the new artworks are already open (and I usually avoid Naoshima during the Triennale, way too crowded).
